Africa’s AI future will not be determined by talent alone. It will largely be determined by the systems that enable talent to scale.
Across much of the continent, limited access to compute, weak infrastructure planning, and policy gaps continue to slow innovation and constrain impact.
Alliance4AI exists to address this challenge. We design the capacity, compute, and governance systems that allow AI investments to translate into real outcomes. Our role is upstream. We ensure that infrastructure, skills development, funding, and policy are aligned with technical realities and long term public value.
In 2025, Alliance4AI supported nearly 1,000 learners across five countries, designed multi country compute access programs capable of reducing GPU costs by up to 75 percent, co stewarded the Africa Green Compute Coalition, and provided technical leadership for national and global AI policy processes. Our research, conducted with UNDP and Zindi, established the five percent GPU access benchmark now used by international funders and G7 governments to guide AI investment strategies.
The 2025 Impact Report documents how system level design moved AI programs from aspiration to execution. It outlines what changed because Alliance4AI existed, and how coordinated infrastructure, grounded policy, and evidence driven frameworks can close Africa’s AI compute gap.
