The safe approach with PST files is to work on a copy and keep the original untouched — most tools lock the file or silently rewrite indexes, and once that happens the original is no longer evidence. Also, large PSTs corrupt easily, so chunked exports are safer. I noticed a similar point at https://winrolla-germania.de/ and it applied here.
