Baratang Miya 

Baratang miya is a South African-based utopian, award winning tech social entrepreneur and self taught coder. Baratang Miya is the Co-Founder of Uhuru Spaces, a creative co-working space, and Uhuru female founders co-working space. She is also the CEO of Girlhype- the data-science and AI school for women and girls. She has been empowering women and girls to code, write the web and ecommerce since 2003. She is the founder of Girlhype Coders Academy in 2003 which has now reached more than ten thousands women and girls with the goal of reaching 200,000 by 2020 and creating an employee pipeline of 2,000 girls and women toward the technology sector.
Baratang is a regular technology writer, judge, advisor in many global tech competitions and hackathons.
Her efforts have resulted in a number of scalable global programs that provided consistent impact to youth, educators and tech startups.
For her extraordinary work providing access to technology for women and girls, She was named as one of the top 3 nominees for the 2016 MTN Women In ICT Community Builder Award. The US State Department has also recognized her commitment to women and girls in STEM, and invited her to spend six weeks in Silicon Valley with other Tech Women award recipients.
