Rana El Kaliouby is an Egyptian-American computer scientist & entrepreneur in the field of Expression recognition research & technology development.
A passionate advocate of innovation & ethics in AI & diversity.
She is the Co-founder & CEO of Affectiva; the pioneer of Emotion AI, they developed a software to recognise human emotions based on facial cues or physiological responses. It’s data is being analysed from 75 countries whichAnd comprises of more than
5 million faces( the largest emotion data repository in the world).
She earned her a B.Sc & M.Sc in Computer science from the American University of Cairo, Egypt then Ph.D at the Newnham College of the University of Cambridge.
Prior to founding Affectiva, Dr .el Kaliouby was a research scientist at the MIT Media Lab where she spearheaded applications for facial coding to benefit mental health, autism & other research areas.
She is on a mission to humanise technology with artificial intelligence, she envisions & works to create a world where devices and technologies that once separated will bring us back together.
She & her work continue to receive global recognition from reputable organisations like Forbes, Fortune and more.
Her first book will be published in April 2020.
