Testosterone can actually make men less fertile. Extreme amounts of testosterone, which can come from medications or supplements, can lower sperm production, which can affect a man’s ability to have children. Testosterone is a sign of manhood and is essential for male reproduction. The testes are shut down when the body detects too much testosterone, which means that sperm output is low or nonexistent. Males who want to have children should not use testosterone treatment because of this. But low testosterone doesn’t always directly cause infertility. It can, however, lower the production of sperm, which has an indirect effect on fertility. Should you be worried about your testosterone levels and your ability to have children, you should talk to a fertility expert.
